I think like most people I feel the most needed when someone asks me for help. Its not hard to understand why. They are literally telling you they need you, by virtue of whatever problem they are having. Usually, I feel bad that the person is going through something that is difficult to manage. When I feel bad for someone, I will typically do whatever I can for them. My only hope is that they aren’t using me and the relationship can be mutually beneficial. It doesn’t have to be all big problems though. It can anything from someone not being able to reach something on the top shelf to diagnosing a issue with some electronic device or a flat tire. Another big thing that would make me feel needed is providing for a family. Now, I’m divorced but for a while there I was a provider for my spouse. Though it wasn’t mentioned a lot it was understood that I was needed to maintain the lifestyle that we had at that point in time.
